RLtec’s Dynamic Demand™ patented technologies are a form of demand response. They take the form of software that can be incorporated into the control unit of electrical appliances such as fridges, water heaters and air conditioning units, without affecting performance. They can also be applied to industrial equipment with discretionary power consumption such as mains water pumping. The technology is typically incorporated into the existing electronic control unit of a new appliance, together with additional hardware and sensors as required. Custom modules for larger commercial appliances are also available and complete control units can be retrofitted into existing equipment. Dynamic Demand™  provides a balancing service for national grids. The software measures signals from the grid and enables appliances to adjust their power consumption automatically, reducing demand when there is a supply shortage and vice versa. The technology is bi-directional, so it can increase and decrease consumption when necessary. Appliances fitted with the technology can react rapidly to changes in the grid – in seconds – and can reduce demand more quickly than traditional methods.
